At Home Facial Recipes

As I have been writing about, my face cleared up once I finally started using at home facial recipes on a regular basis. Some of you might be wondering how I was able to put together a skin care routine that worked. Well, I did a lot reading on the internet, and found a lot of different facial recipes, but it wasn’t until I got a hold of a book called Naturally Skinsational that I was able to put everything together into a plan that worked.

Naturally Skinsational is a book by Sue Dolan, a woman who specializes in anti-aging skin care. She has been a guest on TV morning shows, and she understands how different homemade facial masks can work together to get your skin healthy. The book has about 130 natural facial recipes that you can whip up mainly with ingredients that you can buy at the grocery store.

If you would like to get a taste of what’s in the book, here is a video of Sue Dolan, the book’s author, demonstrating some of her facial recipes on Fox News in Boston:

The book’s at home facial recipes work for me because they are all natural, and they don’t contain any harsh chemicals like the ones that were irritating my skin. But it’s not just the facial recipes…those are easy to find, they’re all over the internet. What finally made the difference was that the book gave me a skin care routine to do everyday, and it was the consistent effort that helped me.

For example, in the past I would try a cleanser that I thought would be good on my face, but it would just make my skin dry, and sometimes I would get pimples after a few days. I figured the cleanser was bad for me, but actually most of the problem was that I wasn’t moisturizing correctly. It wouldn’t have mattered what kind of cleanser I used because I wasn’t doing other things right.

And it was full of other little tips about taking care of your skin (there’s one on page 91 about prepping your skin for home facial treatments that I think made a difference for me). The book also helped me because it had all 130 recipes organized in one place. I didn’t have to go searching all of over the internet to find home facial recipes on different sites, and I knew I could rely on the ones in the book.

Now unfortunately, unlike other info on the internet, the book wasn’t free. But it looked like it could help me, and I knew that if I just did a few of the recipes, it would pay for itself because I could stop spending money on skin care products from the store. And of course, at that point I really couldn’t put a price on what clearing up my skin meant to me.

As I write this, Naturally Skinsational is rated 4.5 stars at Amazon, and it is also available directly from Sue’s official website for the book. If you are interested in the at home facial recipes, I recommend going through Sue’s site because you can download the book immediately instead of waiting for it to be shipped, plus you’ll save a couple of dollars and get two extra bonuses. Natural Facial Recipes and Your Skin Care Routine

Comments Off

In my first post, I mentioned that in my research, I found a lot of natural facial recipes, but I couldn’t put them together into a routine. This was frustrating because I could tell that homemade facial masks would help my skin feel better, but I didn’t know how to make my skin clear up completely. This changed once I got a set routine for my skin.

Not everyone will do the exact same routine or use facial recipes with the same ingredients. It depends on what kind of skin you have (dry, oily, lots of acne, etc.). However, there are basic steps that pretty much everyone should follow in their skin care regimens:

Exfoliate: do this right after taking off your makeup. You don’t need to do it everyday though, especially if you have dry or sensitive skin.

Cleanse: you need to remove the dirt and toxins from your face everyday so your skin will stay healthy.

Tone: this is something that a lot of people skip, but it’s important. Like cleansing, you should do it on a daily basis. It seems like it might dry your skin out, but that’s not the case. Toning helps get rid of all the impurities that your cleanser can’t get.

Moisturize: this of course is very important. There are a lot of natural moisturizers out there that work. You should do this after you tone, and you should keep moisturizers with you during the day, not just for your face, but also your hands.

Each of these steps can be done with an at home facial recipe that you put together yourself, or you can buy natural skin care products at the store. For instance, a store-bought organic face mask might work as well for you as your own homemade facial mask.

You just want to make sure you are consistent and do these things everyday. I know it’s easy to skip days, but just remember that things won’t go as well if you do that. Even with natural facial recipes, your skin will suffer if you don’t care for it regularly.

At Home Facial Recipes and Me

Comments Off

Hello! I decided to start this blog of at home facial recipes because I feel like what I have learned about natural skin care is something that can help other people too. You can read more at my About Me page, but basically there was a time when I started getting pretty bad dry, sensitive skin. It looked like I was breaking out with acne (even though I wasn’t), and sometimes it even felt worse than how it looked. I’d try to wear makeup to make it look better, but this didn’t help and there were days when this irritated my skin even more. Of course I tried different moisturizers that were supposed to help get rid of the peeling and cracking, but I didn’t have any luck. I figured I was just meant to have bad skin.

But later I realized that my skin did better using more natural products, so I tried to go online and find out about different homemade facial scrubs and moisturizers that used natural ingredients. I soon figured out what I needed: at home facial recipes. But while lots of websites had natural facial recipes, it was hard to find the exact information I needed, and I never really knew if the homemade skin recipes would really work. A lot of the home facial masks were fun to do every once in awhile, but I really wanted more like a set routine that I could follow each day, because I read that this would help my skin more. I couldn’t do a mud mask or clay mask everyday, and even if I could, I don’t think it would have cleared up my skin.

So while homemade facial recipes on the internet seemed to be the answer, it still was hard to put all the pieces together. But I did it, and I now have a natural skin care routine that works for me. Hopefully, I will be able to take what I learned and put it in this blog of At Home Facial Recipes, so all of the info will be in one place and easy to follow. I hope you keep reading the posts I have planned for the future. Thanks!
